Bhimtal is a popular tourist destination in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Bhimtal is named after Bhima of Mahabharata. This famous Hill Station is situated at an altitude of 1370 meters above sea level and Bhimtal is about 22 km from Nainital. The Bhimeshwar Mahadev Temple (an old Shiva Temple), near the Lake bank, is believed to have been built by Bhima. He visited the place during the banishment (Vanvas) period of Pandavas. The History of Bhimtal is quite interesting and related to the epic Mahabharata.

Bhimtal is older than Nainital and Haldwani, discovered by the British in 1841. Bhimtal is very popular amongst tourists as Lake City, Peaceful Hill Station, Honeymoon Getaway, and Weekend Holiday Break.

The weather in Bhimtal is also fantastic. The temperature during the summer ranges from 15°C to 29°C, while in the winter, they normally range between 4°C to 18°C. 

Bhimtal city is famous for its picturesque lake. Bhimtal Lake is the largest lake in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. This beautiful Lake is famous among tourists for its fun activities like Boating and Fishing, Water Zorbing, Trekking, Paragliding, and Camping. Like other Lake cities, Bhimtal is one of the best places to visit in Nainital (The Lake district of Uttarakhand). An Island (Now a Beautiful Large Aquarium Cafe) at the center of the Lake is worth seeing.
