If we check the history of Bhimtal, the name of this small Himalayan town “Bhimtal” is named after BHIMA, from Mahabharata, Bhima was one of the five Pandavas. It is also believed that the famous Bheemeshwara Temple (dedicated to Lord Shiva) which is located on the banks of the Bhimtal lake is actually constructed by Bhima himself. In the 17th century, the temple was reconstructed by Baz Bahadur, a popular King from the Chand Dynasty.
